Chika Transformed Ed Sheeran's Song Into a 'Gay as Hell' Pride Anthem

"Proud" is the Pride Month anthem we never knew we needed.

In a twist we never knew we wanted, someone has gone ahead and given Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" a big, gay makeover. Chika, the 20-year-old rapper/singer/songwriter you're about to crush on, took the hit song and made it "gay as hell." Stripping away the old lyrics, she built it back up as "Proud" and created the month's ultimate Pride anthem in the process.

On the track, the Nigerian-American artist takes the tropical house beat and turns it into a plea for acceptance before declaring her pride with a triumphant new chorus: "I will not be ashamed. This is just who I am, who I was meant to be. Right here I stand," she sings. "I'm out on my own two feet. No, you will not tear me down. No my heart will not be bound. Sing it loud, sing it loud, I'm proud."

There's nothing more impressive than turning a song about Ed Sheeran looking for love at a bar into a timeless bop for the LGBTQ community. If you're down to dance to the track and want to hear more, head to her Soundcloud for more music and her Patreon to help crowdfund her first album.
