In December, the author and content creator shared a "Grindr Wrapped" to social media that detailed statistics related to his 2024 hookups. Then, in a follow-up post, he revealed his scientific method.
According to Fox, he keeps a comprehensive breakdown of "every man I've been ever with" via a spreadsheet, which he printed out as a wall-length scroll to show his social media followers.
Fox reveals that he records various data points from his Grindr rendezvous. In the video, Fox showed columns delineating the names, sexual positions, and locations of his trysts. In lieu of Christian names, however, Fox often records descriptors like "Muscley Japanese," "Older Weird Swedish," and "Sweet Jake" for each John.
There were also notes on each subject: "Had a hole in his socks," "didn't douche thoroughly," "height doesn't equal hung," and "I didn't finish," among them.
Fox's research project really took off after divorcing his husband three years ago — the number of rows exploded afterward — and his spreadsheet includes notes on his emotional state going into each encounter. He has a new book, What You Into?, that delves into the mental health issues underlying these experiences.
"When I'm at my worse, I meet multiple people in one day," shared Fox, who also had a message to haters about his project.
"I'm ashamed at how long it took me to realize at how long I was stuck in this destructive cycle, and why I was seeking validation from all these random men.... So many other gay men are stuck in this same cycle but no one talks about it."
