The Olympic diver discusses his Wheaties Box onĀ Oprah: Where Are They Now?
As athletes around the world prepare for another Olympics, Oprah is catching up with some old friends. In a special episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, the host profiles some of the Olympics' greatest from years past.
Mark Spitz talks about seeing Michael Phelps top his record. Gymnastic gold medalists Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci share their love story that started with a kiss when Comaneci earned a perfect 10 at age 14. After working with divers competing at Rio, Greg Louganis introduces his husband.
In an exclusive clip, Louganis shares his excitement over getting his own Wheaties box. After accumulating over 43,000 signatures for an online petition, he was recently included in the Wheaties Legends series. Although he was never featured on a box during his Olympic games in 1984 and 1988, it now means more to him as an openly gay man living with HIV.
"It means more now than it probably would then," Louganis says. "I feel like I'm being embraced as a whole person."
The special episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now? airs Sunday, July 24 at 10PM ET/PT on OWN. Watch the exclusive clip below:
