Sure, you might think of Gus Kenworthy for his acting these days, but let us not forget he is a whole Olympian! And a silver medalist at that! In 2014, he medaled in freestyle skiing on Team USA. But now, he's changing up his allegiance.

The International Ski Federation approved the athlete's application to switch sides on Tuesday according to a release. The approval is effective immediately: say hello to the newest member of Team GB Snowsport.

The switch up comes after competing for Team US during two Olympic Games. Kenworthy hopes to make his debut for Britain at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. That's, given that he qualifies!

For those unaware, Kenworth is actually British! He was born in Essex and according to the release, his mother is British-born as well. But, no matter what happens with the 2022 Olympics, Team USA still ahs full claim on that first medal.

"I think this is definitely going to be my last Games," Kenworthy said in a video interview about the announcement. "My swansong if you will and I just want to do it for my mom. She's been my number 1 supporter, my number 1 fan. She learned how to ski when I learned how to ski; she was 40 and I was 3 and it was this thing that we fell in love with together."

"I'm just going to pay tribute to her and my heritage and do it for GB," he said.

As long as he's sticking around for American Horror Story and will still make his Will & Grace cameo, we'll allow it.
