Colton Underwood is a big fan of Carl Nassib.
The Bachelor alum and star of his own Netflix series Coming Out Colton sat down with LogoTV where he gave a big 60-second shout-out to the out NFL player, Nassib, hailing his representation and noting how his visibility would have gone a long way in helping him accept his identity when he was growing up.
"He is a defensive end for the Oakland Raiders," Underwood began, noting that he, too, had been a member of the Raiders in the past.
"And I just think it's so cool," he continued. "If I would've had someone like Carl to look up to when I was a kid, it would've made my life a lot easier. So I just wanna send all my love and my appreciation and my support to Carl."
The former NFL practice squad player then thanked Nassib's teammates in the locker room, noting how their support has also resulted into key plays and wins on the field.
"I also wanna send out my love and support to his teammates who are continuing to support him," Underwood said. "He already has a sack-fumble for a win, he's making plays, he's killing it on a professional level and a personal level. So, go Carl!"
Underwood also gave a shout-out to players who have come out after they retired, saying, "I wanna say thank you to those people as well because you give not only myself courage, but probably Carl as well. Sending all of my love to former out football players."
Nassib made sports and NFL history when he came out as gay in June, the first out player signed to an active roster, and later made history again as the first out player to play in a regular-season NFL game.
"What's up people," Nassib said in a video posted to Instagram during Pride Month. "I'm at my house in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that I'm gay. I've been meaning to do this for a while now but finally feel comfortable getting it off my chest. I really have the best life, the best family, friends, and job a guy can ask for."
Nassib recently revealed he has a boyfriend. He confirmed there was someone special in his life during an interview with fellow player Darren Waller on his Comeback Stories podcast in September, saying the one thing missing from his life was "to be someone's number one priority."
"And I couldn't have that, so that was the one thing, I was like 'man I really f*cking want that,'" Nassib said, before adding, "But I got that now, so it's good."
He later tagged his boyfriend, Erik Gudzinas, in a post, captioning the pic with two red heart emojis.
Underwood can be currently seen in his Netflix series Coming Out Colton, which premiered on December 3.
