WWE Star Kayla Braxton Comes Out as Bisexual, Deletes Twitter Account

Kayla Braxton

"Hello, world. I’m Kayla. Oh. And yeah – I’m bi.”

27-year-old professional wrestler Kayla Braxton, known as Kayla Becker in the ring, has come out as bisexual.

Braxton, who is mixed race, tweeted "My whole life, I've had to choose. Are you Black? Are you white? Which bubble do you fill in on the SATs?" It's a feeling many mixed race people can relate to.

"I always filled in 'other' because nothing applied to me," she added. "Tonight, I choose to be over having to choose. Hello, world. I'm Kayla. Oh. And yeah - I'm bi." In another tweet, she posted a picture of the bisexual pride flag.

Braxton joined the WWE in 2016 and made her main roster debut the next year in a Backlash session. She's since participated in SmackDown and Raw, two of wrestling's biggest events. Braxton has also worked as a ring announcer.

Responses were overwhelmingly positive, with fans and peers, including fellow wrestlers Betty Phoenix and Lance Storm, praising her for coming out.

After the tweet, Braxton deactivated her Twitter account. Some speculate that it was because of harassment she faced after coming out, but this has not been confirmed. According to Wrestling Headlines, she's deactivated several times before and always come back.

Recently, another wrestler, Gabbi Tuft came out as trans. "This is me. Unashamed, unabashedly me. This is the side of me that has hidden in the shadows, afraid and fearful of what the world would think; afraid of what my family, friends, and followers would say or do," she wrote in an Instagram post.

Chris Lewis, another wrestler who goes by The Hitman for Hire, Mr. Grim, also came out as pansexual in January, tweeting, "For years, I've struggled with my identity. Too worried about how others would feel or think about me. I've finally gained the courage to openly express that I'm Pansexual."
