He’s the trusty Secret Service (and boy toy) on House of Cards — who kissed Kevin Spacey
You Know Him From: His role as Meechum, the trusty Secret Service agent (and boy toy) of cunning politico Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey), on the Netflix hit series House of Cards.
What's Next: The third season of House of Cards (premiering February 27); a lead part as a mysterious detective in the Off-Broadway play Kill Me Like You Mean It; a guest spot on Billions, a Showtime pilot based on the Steven Cohen hedge-fund scandal
From En Garde to Bodyguard: "Kevin and I met in a production of Richard III at the Old Vic. I played Richmond, who at the end finally takes Richard [Spacey] down, so we had to learn this all-out sword fight. We wanted it to be spectacular, and certainly camaraderie developed from that. It's funny that we went from me murdering him in the play to me having the job of taking a bullet for him on a show."
On Meechum's threesome With Frank and Claire Underwood:"It's tough with this character because he is so clouded in mystery. I think Meechum is affected by events he hasn't processed, being a guy who had an intense war experience in Afghanistan. And maybe Frank does actually have devotion and love for Meechum. His sexuality is clearly important to him. It's a vulnerability. It's dangerous for him. Say you found out Obama had a threesome last night with a Secret Service guy. What would happen? It's not 1950 or even 1980. Today it's more complicated. It wouldn't necessarily be over. It's like, whose business is it?"
Season 3 of House of Cards premieres Feb. 27 on Netflix. Watch a clip below:
