It's a little bit Silent Hill, a little bit Stepford Wives, a little bit Children of the Corn cult-y, and a whole lot of crazy.
Wayward Pines finds Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon), searching for two missing fellow agents when he gets into a car accident and ends up in the Wayward Pines Hospital. He soon finds that not only is he not allowed to leave the town, he's incapable. He finds one of the agents he was looking for, played by Carla Gugino, but she already seems to be under the diabolic influence of the place.
Terrence Howard plays the local sheriff, who gathers the townsfolk for nightly chant-sessions like any good cultist leader would. Dillon butts heads with Howard, who doesn't like a Secret Service agent coming onto his turf and ordering him around. With Shyamalan playing executive producer, along with Out100 honoree Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club) as showrunner and writer, there's no telling what kind of twists and turns the series will take.
Wayward Pines premiers on Fox on May 14, watch the trailer below.
