The transgender actress, who plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Fox’s adaption of the cult classic, shared how the movie allowed her to “just go for it.”

For Laverne Cox, playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter is a dream come true. The transgender actress, lauded for her performance on Orange is the New Black, steps into the heels of the legendary mad scientist Thursday night on Fox during the network adaption of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

In an Out exclusive clip, Cox talks about how playing Furter is not just fishnets and the "Time Warp" (although we are living for that). She spoke honestly about how the movie and the characters helped her start her own journey to find her gender identity.

"This Frank-N-Furter character gave me so much more permission to just go for it," she said. "... And I feel like in so many ways this movie was the beginning of me allowing myself to fully be."

Along with Cox, the inclusive cast includes openly gay musician Adam Lambert as Eddie.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show will air Thursday night, 8 p.m. Eastern, on Fox.
