The new show will come from Matt Groening, the creator of Futurama The Simpsons.

It appears Netflix wants in on the adult animated comedy juggernauts a la The Simpsons and Futurama. They've ordered 20 episodes of a new fantasy show, Disenchantment, from the aforementioned series' creator, Matt Groening.

According to Vulture'sreport, Groening explains that the show is chalk full of "life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you."

The magical series will star Broad City's Abbi Jacobson as the heavy-drinking Princess Bean, as well as Eric Andre as a demon named Luci and Nat Faxon as an Elf named Elfo. It will follow the gang's misadventures around a crumbling fantastical world called "Dreamland," and also feature voice acting work from John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

"Matt Groening's brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn't be happier to work with him on Disenchantment," said Netflix VP of Original Content Cindy Holland to Deadline. "The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it's a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans."

Beyond that, not much else is known--except the show is coming in 2018 and will air in 10-episode chunks. It joins Bojack Horseman, F is For Family, and the soon-to-come Dr. Seuss' Green Eggs and Ham in Netflix's animated portfolio.
