These days entire Saturday Night Live skits seem to just write themselves. After last week's hearings in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, SNL writers harvested the gold they were given and spun it into the cold open for the premiere of the show's 44th season.

After a brief introduction, Matt Damon surprised the audience when he came out to play the enraged Kavanaugh. "I'm here tonight because of a sham. A political con job orchestrated by the Clintons. And George Soros. And Kathy Griffin!" Damon yelled, mocking similar accusations Kavanaugh made during his actual hearing. For her part, Griffin was delighted to be included in the faux conspiracy theory, having been the victim of an assassination of character herself for her infamous photo shoot sporting a severed head resembling Donald Trump.
SNL alum Rachel Dratch made a brief appearance in the skit as Senator Amy Klobuchar (D) from Minnesota, but top honors for impersonating a congressman go to Kate McKinnon, who was outfitted with a prosthetic bullfrog-like chin to embody Senator Lindsey Graham (R) from South Carolina. Graham has been one of the most outspoken members of congress regarding the Kavanaugh hearings, threatening democrats by saying they should expect similar background checks and vetting of their candidates in the future.
