Say hello to “Fashion’s a Drag.”
Yes, Shangela was in A Star is Born. Indeed! But she wasn't the only one, so was Willam! And now, the RuPaul's Drag Race alum is readying to launch her own television show. Well kind of!
Set to launch in April 2020, "Fashion's a Drag" is the new Willam-hosted show coming to Quibi. Quibi is an upcoming platform that bills itself as the first mobile-first streaming service and already has announced projects with both Lena Waithe and Sasha Velour. Willam adds to that.
Willam's show is being created in collaboration with Hearst Originals, which is the video arm of Hearst Magazines (publisher of Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and more.) On it Willam as well as a few other drag queens and drag experts from Elle will rundown fashion trends and news.
"People have looked up to drag queens for style cues for years and that's not just a joke about men being taller in heels and wigs," Willam said in a statement. She notably became a break out on her season ofDrag Race for her style and penchange for vintage pieces. "And since red carpets need a recapping, Quibi decided to give me a show which will utilize the two things I'm known for -- my style and my mouth. Get ready to salute and dispute each week with me and my fabulous friends!"
The announcement adds to the star's other ongoing projects which include working on East Siders, the television show which just launched its fourth and final season on Netflix this month. She also has been working on her makeup line Coverboy which she launched in September at DragCon, as well as the incredibly popular Drag Race podcast Race Chaser. She hosts the latter project with Alaska Thunderfuck.
