We finally have a date!The Read, the legendary podcast hosted by Kid Fury and Crissle West, will be making its television debut in just two short months, on October 11th. FuseTV announced the date via their Twitter.
Blue Ivy is somewhere giving her nod of approval.
“SAVE THE DATE: October 11 @ThisIsTheRead is coming to late night!!! 🎉🥳🎉🥳
@Crissles x @KidFury + Us = #TheReadOnFuse.”— FUSE TV (@FUSE TV) 1565794863
For those living under a rock, or just unaware of the Black queer excellence that is The Read, it's a pop culture podcast that centers all things Black. Their television show, which will be of the talk/variety show format, will carry over popular segments from the podcast, including Hot Tops, where they go over the week's latest in culture and entertainment, and the titular Read segment where they -- in the great tradition of their Black and brown ancestors of Paris is Burning -- read a person, place, or thing deserving a necessary takedown. The show will also include special celebrity guests and musical performances from time to time.
With more than 85 million listens worldwide, The Read has become a juggernaut in the six years since its start, a feat considering their unapologetically Black and queer AF perspectives. The pair consistently, and quite remarkably, have crafted a show that is more than just a pop culture recap, deftly melding together conversations about politics, social justice, the importance of therapy, career advice, and self-help. And it helps that they both are card-carrying members of the Beyhive with top-level security clearance from Blue Ivy herself.
The Read with Kid Fury and Crissle West is being produced by Avalon Television and will air on cable network Fuse. It follows the immense success of other podcasts-turned-shows featuring people of color including Desus & Mero on Showtime and 2 Dope Queens on HBO.
I don't exactly know what channel Fuse is but do believe that I'll be tuning in.
