With Schitt's Creek officially ending it's sixth season, we couldn't help but take a look back at one of television's favorite gay couples: David Rose and Patrick Brewer. From the first time they met as David hoped to do some paperwork for opening his new business and through the proposal -- we've excluded season 6 for the time being in case you all haven't been able to watch -- here are some of our most memorable moments.
Patrick takes David's birthday as the opportunity to ask him to dinner. When David invites Stevie along for the evening, it's she that realizes that this was intended to be a romantic date, and makes her exit shortly thereafter.
At the end of the pair's first date, with David still buckled into his seat, they officially have their first kiss.
We all know and love the free loving Pony, better known as Jake. Well, with Stevie still involved with him, it was only a matter of time before Patrick got to make his acquaintance.
In a conversation about compromise, David lets the word "boyfriend" slip for the first time. Thankfully it was not the last.
To drum up some foot traffic at the apothecary, Patrick has the idea of hosting an open-mic night. The star performance: him singing an acoustic version of "Simply the Best."
Things hit a bit of a rough -- but mostly just uneasy -- patch when Patrick's ex-fiance turns up in town and all three come face-to-face.
In a slight olive branch to counter balance the many olive branches Patrick extended to him over the awkwardness with his ex-fiance, David gives us the "Simply the Best" 2.0 performance we never knew we needed.
After David gets high-strung over the awkwardness between Alexis and Ted after Alexis professed her love, Patrick takes it as the perfect moment to profess his love for David for the first time. Though David needs to take some time to think about it, he returns the gesture the same day -- though he forgets the tea Patrick asked him to bring.
Feeling a little crowded with a roommate, Patrick tells David that "we" need to find a new apartment. It isn't until the end of the search that Dvid realizes that this wasn't a proposition to move in together, but only to get his valued opinion on his beau's new place.
In something we never saw coming, David pushes his boyfriend to try dating another man after he watches he get hit on. Thankfully for all involved, Patrick realizes that it's not something he really cares to do.
In one of the fumiest scenes of the show, David plays supportive boyfriend as he agrees to join in with Patrick's baseball game. The gag? It's David that makes the game-winning run to take the team to victory.
As things have been rolling along quite smoothly between our favorite couple, Patrick just hasn't found the time to tell his parents that he's been seeing David. What was originally supposed to be a birthday surprise turns into something much more sentimental and sweet as he comes out to them.
It's pretty self-explanatory so I'm just going to go grab a few tissues for my tears as we all reminisce.
