Get your ballots ready because The Politician is back with a season 2.
After capturing our attention with a pretty hilarious and partially insightful first season, Ryan Murphy's The Politician is back for a second season on Netflix. Launching on Netflix on June 19, the season is set to depict Payton Hobart (played by Ben Platt) in his next big fight: the New York State Senate race against long-time incumbent Dede Standish played by Judith Light.
As a description for the season points out, Hobart sees this race "as the next step on his path to the Presidency." A lifelong path that he's long been hurtling towards, only partially interrupted after his high school run for student body president. This new run will put him to the test and make him "decide what kind of politician he ultimately wants to be in order to succeed, even if that means exposing secrets, lies, and a throuple." For his sake, we hope he's talking about Standish's and not his own!
Elsewhere, the description teases a "momentous decision" by Hobart's mom, Georgina Hobart (Gwyneth Paltrow), that "threatens to upstage him and everything he hopes to accomplish." And while there aren't any details, in photos from the first look ... is that a Presidential Debate stage?! We love to see it!
