Strictly Come Dancing Wows Audiences With Romantic Same-Sex Waltz

Strictly is giving us so much awesome representation this season, and we are living!

It's been a long time coming, but the 19th season of BBC's hit reality dance competition Strictly Come Dancing is giving us all the queer feels we've been dying for!

In Saturday night's most recent episode, all the dance pros gathered together to serve period-drama elegance in a special opening routine to Taylor Swift's classic tracks "Lover" and "Love Story." Johannes Radebe, who is currently competing with Great British Bake Off's John Whaite in the competition, stole the show when he arrived to the Strictly ballroom and started dancing the waltz with Kai Widdrington (who is competing with AJ Odudu).

At the end of the routine, Radebe (like many of us viewers) got emotional, and it instantly became a hallmark moment in the series, showing just how far we've come when it comes to on-screen inclusion and representation. (That, and their dance was just romantic AF!)

But if you thought that was Radebe's only time slaying the ballroom floor on this episode of Strictly, think again! He and regular weekly partner and Great British Bake Off alum John Whaite gave us the gay pirate fantasy of our dreams when the two performed the paso doble while paying homage to the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise. The two even nailed scored a whopping 39 points for their performance, just one point away from a perfect score!

"Thank you for the kind messages," Whaite wrote in an Instagram post following he and Radebe's slayage on this past week's Strictly. "This week has been exhausting, hilarious, emotional. And I'm overflowing with pride for @johannesradebe. (Wasn't that opening dance with @kaiwidd just stunning.)"

"I quite like Jack Sparrow," he continued. "I'm going to take him home with me."
