The queer crime comedy of our dreams just came to life!
Search Party alums Jeffery Self and Cole Escola will star in the title roles of Bunny & Clyde, a new scripted half-hour comedy that will air on HBO Max. According to Deadline, the show is currently in development.
The show will follow "two lost and codependent souls," Bunny, played by Escola, a non-binary self-identifying cabaret star, and Clyde, played by Self, a "broken gay thirtysomething in the midst of an unmedicated bipolar episode."
When the two are trapped in the drudgery of their lives, they get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change their lives forever and reinvent themselves. In order to do that, though, they have to "live in a dead man's house, assume new identities, and convince an entire Palm Springs community that the guy is still alive while they sell off his estate."
Self and Escola are executive producing with showrunner Nancy Pimental (Shameless). Both are hilarious actors and comedians who first worked together on the Logo sketch comedy series Jeffery & Cole Casserole.
Since then, they've also appeared together on Search Party, which has Self in a recurring role for all four seasons and had Escola recurring as Dory's twink stalker on seasons three and four.
Escola, who also is known for playing Chassie Tucker on At Home With Amy Sedaris is known for playing truly out-there and amazing characters, and gives a new face to nonbinary actors and characters.
Previously, we've reported on the upcoming Megan Fox thriller Johnny & Clyde, thinking (because of the name) that it would be gay, and starring two men. Unfortunately, that's not the case, as we learned that the title characters will be played by actor Avan Jogia, and actress Ajani Russell.
Fortunately, that's not the only Bonnie & Clyde update we've got coming. And this other one is much, much more gay. Hey, Megan, it's not too late for you to jump ship and move from one Bonnie & Clyde reimagining to the other!
