Earlier today, Netflix's Elite teased a new project titled simply "Elite Week." In it, they promised four new short stories "surprises, parties, and crushes" all happening in the lead up to the season four premiere. We speculated that the series of short stories might either revolve around the show's departing characters or its incoming characters. But now, we have some answers from Netflix.
Elite Short Stories is a new series of stories that are set to "expand the Elite universe." They are not a spinoff show, but more like vignettes or bridge content to work our way into the new content. The stories themselves all take place during the summer before the start of the new year in Las Encinas, the school that binds all the characters together.
"There will be four stories, each one made of three short episodes," a release from Netflix says. These will start being released Monday, June 14 and will go through Thursday, June 17.
"Every new season we write, we always end up leaving some of our characters' stories out," show co-creator Carlos Montero says in the release. "They don't fit the format or there's no physical time to develop them, and we're always left with the bitter taste that we would have liked to share them with everyone. That's more or less how the idea of Elite Short Stories came up, we wanted to take the opportunity to explore those stories that we wanted to tell and let the world discover them."
"We also thought that in these uncertain times, it would be a great gift for the fans, since we all need something good to happen to us," he continued. "And what better to make the wait for the fourth season more enjoyable than to give them these little stories full of intimacy, love, comedy, friendship, and a little bit of craziness. It is a gift for the fans, and it has also been one for Dario and me to have been able to write them".
In the first look photos, the series only reveals characters who are already slated to be in season four like Omar, Ander, Guzman, and Rebeca. But, sharp eyed fans have spotted things like Carla's initials as well as photos of Nadia and Guzman in a teaser video
