High School Musical's Seb Serenades Carlos in This New, Sweet Clip

This first-look video is from an upcoming Carlos-focused episode entitled "The Quinceañero" and involves an iconic Miley Cyrus track!

Carlos and Seb fans rejoice! Tomorrow's all-new episode of Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is all about our favorite couple at East High!

Billboard has an exclusive clip from the episode where Seb, played by Joe Serafini, serenades his boyfriend Carlos (Frankie Rodriguez) with a beautiful, stripped-down rendition of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb."

Fans of the show know that Seb started out as a quiet farm boy and has blossomed into himself through the drama department and his friends. He even played Sharpay in the show's fall musical, High School Musical: The Musical. Now he's showing just how far he's come and how thankful he is for the person who most helped him get there.

In the new episode, titled "The Quinceanero," Carlos is celebrating his birthday when Seb decides to serenade him. It's cute, it's cheesy in a great way, and it's romantic -- something a Disney show wouldn't have shown between two same-sex characters just a few years ago.

Tim Federle, the show's creator, is gay, and has been doing a great job of making sure that East High is an inclusive place for students of all kinds. The show is breaking ground on Disney, not just for featuring queer storylines, but for having queer actors play the queer characters.

Serafini himself is bisexual, and has been in a relationship with his costar Frankie Rodriguez, who plays Carlos, since 2019. The actor told Billboard that he's excited to get to bring some queer representation to Disney's audience.

"Singing 'The Climb' was a dream come true. I mean, I've been singing along with Miley Cyrus since the song first came out when I was a kid," he said. "And I think the way the writers incorporated it into Seb's storyline is really beautiful. We all have our own 'climbs' in life, and I think LGBTQ+ youth can especially relate to that idea -- appreciating the journey to living out loud, unapologetically. And navigating the rough patches along the way."

"The Quinceanero" episode of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, premieres this Friday, June 11 on Disney+!
