The Erika Jayne-Kathy Hilton feud is heating up.
In the recent reunion specials for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 12, Jayne called out Hilton for allegedly using an anti-gay slur while they were dancing at a club. Now, a source close to Jayne has spoken out about why she chose to speak up.
"Erika cares deeply for the LGBTQIA+ community," a source close to Jayne told Page Six. "They have been by her side since the very beginning of her career, even before Housewives."
"She had no other choice but to say something and take a stand," the source continued. "She wanted to make a statement: No one on her cast is going to attack the LGBTQIA+ community and go unchecked."
In the Season 12 reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Jayne claimed that her co-star Hilton used a gay slur when complaining about a DJ at a club they were dancing at.
"I see Kathy coming from the dance floor, very upset," Jayne said in the reunion. "I say, 'Kathy, what's wrong?' She says, 'The DJ's an old f*cking f*g,' and walked off."
Hilton immediately denied the accusations, saying she was "frustrated" that the DJ was "too busy" to accept song requests, but that she didn't use that language, and never would have.
"Those are your words. That's what you said to me," Jayne interjected.
She also took to her Instagram Story to explain further. "I was there. It happened. What the 'audience' chooses to believe is beyond my control," she said on the social media platform.
At the reunion, Andy Cohen said that Bravo HR launched an investigation into Jayne's claims. They found it to be inconclusive and said "it was a case of she-said, she-said."
