What We Do in the Shadows has steadily grown its fanbase and become one of the best shows on TV in its four seasons on the air. According to star Harvey Guillen, who plays familiar-turned-bodyguard-turned-vampire-nightclub-accountant Guillermo, the show is just getting started.
ScreenRant recently asked Guillen for an update on filming the new season, and he did not disappoint.
"Well, we just got picked up for seasons 5 and 6," he revealed. "We're filming 5 now, and then we definitely have 6 waiting for us. But who knows? The world could end tomorrow. But so far, so good."
Guillen couldn't help but marvel at how quickly time has passed since the show began filming in 2017.
"We're just taking it one season at a time. I can't believe that it's already season 5, because I was thinking about this," he said. "I was shooting last night, and we're halfway done through season 5 of filming. The time is just going so fast, and it's so great. I can't believe I've been living up here in Toronto on and off for five years now. That's half a decade, you know? Just the idea of that, it's like, 'We just shot the pilot like yesterday. Wasn't Taika and Jemaine just here shooting?'"
Did you notice that part about them already being halfway done with shooting season 5?! It won't be long until they wrap on this season! And then a season 6 will be coming after that!
This is great news for fans of Guillermo and Nandor's long game will-they-or-won't-they romance, which upped the stakes this year. In season 4, Guillermo got a boyfriend and Nandor got a wife, leading to a lot of conflict between the two, which eventually led to Nandor magically turning his wife into an exact replica of Guillermo's boyfriend, causing both relationships to end.
With two more seasons of the show coming, we can't wait to find out where their relationship goes next.
Season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows is available streaming on Hulu.
