The most revolutionary wig reveal of all time!

Willow Smith has had a busy year releasing singles such as "hover like a GODDESS," "curious/furious," and "Split," which all led up to her latest studio album . And yet, many fans still remember when a young Smith released the pop anthem "Whip My Hair."

During an interview with Spin, Smith reacted to the iconic "Whip My Hair" lip sync between Roxxxy Andrews and Alyssa Edwards on RuPaul's Drag Race. In it, Andrews took off a wig to reveal another wig underneath it - forever changing the way wig reveals were done on the show. After Mama Ru announced that both Andrews and Edwards were staying in the competition, Andrews broke down and told the story of being abandoned by her mother at a bus stop and then adopted by her grandmother.

"It's so iconic," Smith gushed over the lip sync. "I honestly shed a tear, the fact that I'm involved with this."

Later in the interview, Smith also revealed that she did not know Legendary judge Leiomy Maldonado had been featured in the "Whip My Hair" music video until recently. In fact, the singer called her mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, to remind her of where she knew Maldonado from.

Smith explained:

"I was watching Legendary and I was looking like, 'I know her. Where do I know her from?' She's a teacher [in the video] and she whips her hair out and does a death drop. All the kids are like, 'Hell yeah.'"

Smith has had a huge impact on LGBTQ+ culture, and we love that she knows all these things about her legacy!

Willow Smith's album is now available on all music streaming platforms.
