Queer love stories are all over Amazon Prime Video's new dating series, Lovestruck High.
With a cast that features numerous LGBTQ+ contestants - as well as straight-identifying cast members - Lovestruck High is best described as a combination of Love Island meets Sex Education meets Mean Girls. The latter has everything to do with the narrator behind this new reality show: none other than the iconic Lindsay Lohan.
The initial cast of Lovestruck High features 17 twentysomethings living in an empty high school while exploring their feelings and sexual desires. As seen in the teaser (watch below), this UK series is filled with queer storylines, which is a major blow to producers behind shows like Love Island who have complained in the past about the "logistical difficulties" of casting LGBTQ+ people in a dating competition.
The jam-packed teaser for Lovestruck High includes iconic soundbites such as "I'm actually a lesbian" as well as "he's straight, isn't he lads?" followed by "so is spaghetti 'til it's wet." It goes without saying that this show looks like it won't tokenize LGBTQ+ contestants, but will rather give them just as much screentime as their straight co-stars. All things considered, this cast is incredibly diverse not only in terms of sexual orientations but also when it comes to race, occupations, and backgrounds.
Scroll through to meet the contestants of Lovestruck High, which premieres May 18 on Amazon Prime Video.
