Pack up your fancy sweaters and wigs, the Rose family is officially coming to Hulu!
Hulu has announced today that they've acquired the exclusive streaming rights for Schitt's Creek, meaning that the beloved sitcom will be leaving Netflix and heading to its rival streamer.
This is the biggest streaming news since The Crows Have Eyes III: The Crowening debuted on Interflix!
"Based on the number of Schitt's Creek GIFs we Slack every day, it's no surprise that we are absolutely thrilled to welcome Johnny, Moira, Alexis, 'Daviiid' and the wonderfully unique residents of Schitt's Creek to Hulu," Joe Earley, the president of Hulu said in a statement. "We can't wait to share the award-winning, blisteringly-funny, yet heartwarming series and characters with our subscribers. We know they'll fit in nicely."
Previously, fans who didn't have CBC and Pop TV have had to watch the show as the seasons were put on Netflix. There, it built the huge following it has today. The sixth and final season swept all the comedy award categories at the 72nd Emmys, where it won Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Outstanding Writing, and Directing.
For those of you who only have Netflix and not Hulu (are there any of you?), the show won't jump to Hulu until October 3, so it looks like you've got time for one or two more binge-watches of the entire show before it leaves Netflix.
Additionally, there will be more Dan Levy content on Netflix soon, as he signed an exclusive deal with the streamer that begins July 2022. As a part of that deal, he'll be writing and producing new scripted content for Netflix for the next couple years. One of the projects is reportedly a queer romantic comedy, also starring Levy.
