Happy Pride Month!

The Gays just can't stop winning!!!

Pride Month is officially on, as HBO Max has announced that it is renewing the critically-acclaimed, fan-favorite pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death for a second season.

Our Flag Means Death was created by David Jenkins and features Taika Waititi as both an executive producer and a star. The show follows Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), an aristocratic gentleman who trades his normal life for that of a pirate. Along the way, he meets the infamous Blackbeard (Waititi) and the two opposites quickly find they have more in common than they initially thought.

"We felt the show was special while we were making it, but fans' open-armed embrace of the inhabitants of the Revenge makes heading into a second season all the more sweet," Jenkins said in a statement. "Thanks to our team at HBO Max, our invested executive producers, and our wildly enthusiastic audience for making another voyage to this world possible."

On Twitter, Jenkins also commented on the renewal.

"Heard you might want more of pirates being friends and loving each other up, so we got you this second season," he wrote. "But really, you got us this second season with your enthusiasm, talent, and joy," he said to fans. "We love your love of this show. Thank you for an amazing experience and for meeting our work with such kind passion."

Our Flag is, at it's heart, a romantic comedy between Stede and Blackbeard, but that's hardly the only queer content the show gives us. The show also features nonbinary pirate Jim (Vico Ortiz) who is beginning a relationship with their best friend, Oluwande (Samson Kayo), and Lucius (Nathan Foad), the ship's sassy record-keeper, who sketches other pirates' privates and is in a relationship with Black Pete (Matthew Maher).

Other characters including Izzy Hands (Con O'Neill), Calico Jack (Will Arnett), and Spanish Jackie (Leslie Jones) have also been shown to be queer. The show also stars Ewen Bremner, Joel Fry, Kristian Nairn, Guz Khan, David Fane, Rory Kinnear, Samba Schutte, and Nat Faxon.

There's no report yet on how many episodes will be in season two, or when it will come out. The first season of Our Flag was the best season of comedy TV this year, so we couldn't be more excited to see more of it!

The first season of Our Flag Means Death is currently streaming on HBO Max!
