The queer cast of one of our favorite shows just got a little bigger!

Two LGBTQ+ actors, Nicole Maines (Supergirl, Darby and the Dead) and Francois Arnaud (The Borgias) have joined the cast for the upcoming second season of the Showtime thriller Yellowjackets in new recurring roles.

Maines, a GLAAD Media Award nominee for her portrayal of trans superhero Dreamer on Supergirl, is set to play Lisa, an associate of adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) who is trying to recover from past trauma.

In season one, Lottie became one of the linchpins of the series when she started having visions after the plane crash. Her visions and other seemingly preternatural abilities convinced some of the girls that she has magical powers, leading to the girls performing ritualistic violence and sacrifices.

We also know that adult Lottie is involved in the group of survivors, as she's seen to be connected to the mysterious events happening to the adult survivors at the end of the first season.

Arnaud will appear in four episodes playing a character named Paul who is "a New York writer and secret boyfriend of Coach Scott who reminds Coach Scott of what might have been." Arnaud came out as bisexual in 2020 for Bi Visibility Day.

The show currently stars out actors Jasmin Savoy Brown and Liv Hewson, who both play queer characters in the show.

Brown plays the teen version of Taissa Turner, a driven and competitive player on the soccer team. Hewson, who uses they/them pronouns, plays the teen version of Vanessa, a.k.a. Van. Van is the goalkeeper of the soccer team, and after the crash, she and Taissa start to date.

Season 2 of Yellowjackets is set to premiere on Showtime Friday, March 24. The show has also been renewed for a third season.
