Jake Shears & Kirsten Maldonado to Join Kinky Boots in 2018

Jake Shears, lead singer of American pop group Scissor Sisters, announced on Thursday that he will be making his Broadway debut in Kinky Boots in 2018. In addition to Shears, the producers of the Tony Award-winning "Best Musical" announced that Pentatonix member Kirsten Maldonado will also be joining.

Shears will be replacing original cast member Stark Sands in the central role of Charlie Price, a boy who has just inherited the family business, Price & Son Shoes, from his late father. To save the failing business, Charlie forms an unlikely relationship with cabaret performer and drag queen Lola to create towering high-heeled boots for drag performers. Maldonado will be playing Charlie's love interest, Lauren.

"I have been dreaming of doing Broadway, and my wish got answered tenfold," Shears said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. "I couldn't be more excited about doing Kinky Boots on Broadway; it's going to be a delicious challenge! Believe it or not, they're going to be the first stilettos I'll ever have worn. My feet are so big, I've never seen a pair that would actually fit me."

You can catch Shears in those Tony-winning red stilettos from Jan. 8 to April 1. Maldonado will perform from Feb. 2 to April 8.

"Being on Broadway has been my ultimate bucket list goal since I was 8 years old," said Maldonado. "I'm so excited to join such an incredible cast to share this special story!"
