This Weekend's NYC Porn Film Festival Offers Plenty of Queer Content

NYCPFF

Come one; come all.

Today marks the start of the first ever NYC Porn Film Festival. While standing around in a room watching skin flicks may seem like an object lesson in awkwardness, this will be different.

Headquartered in hipster-homebase Bushwick, Brooklyn, the people behind the open submission fest "aim to give credit to adult film as a significant and socially/culturally relevant art form." So think more bearded visual artists and fewer creepy dudes in trench-coats.

Presented by Pornhub (a.k.a. the reason why there's nothing in your browser's history cache), the festival will feature screenings, talks, and a few parties. We've picked out a few choice events, but check out the website for tickets and info.

Friday 7:15 Screening

Not only will this 90-minute block feature a talk with Cindy Gallop, founder of MakeLoveNotPorn, but there will also be screenings of films titled XXXOtter: Orgasmic Nipples, LilyandKara: A lesbian lesson in backdoor exploration, and Dale Cooper & Colby Keller: ThisIsOurHandle. It's a good way to ease yourself into the weekend. Tickets: $5.

Friday: 8:45. Nosebleed City! Anime Wong introduces & selects an evening of Yaoi Anime

Yaoi, the Japanese genre of fiction featuring dude-on-dude action, is not actually aimed at gay men. It's created by women for women and is thus an interesting look at what people outside the community think about guy-on-guy stuff. Tickets: $5.

Friday 9:30. Pornhub x Cockyboys presents: SOFT OPENINGS

Catch a screening of Levi Karter's Fuck Yah followed by DJs Josh Cheon from Honeysound System/Dark Entries, Ron Like Hell, Cartel, and a live set from the critically acclaimed Berlin artist HEATSICK. + Go-Go's kindly supported by Cockyboys.Tickets: $20.

Saturday 3:00. Double Feature: Men's Room & Interior. Leather Bar

Come for Zeigenbock Kofpts' short film and stay for James Franco's arthouse smash. Rumor has it that both filmmakers will be in attendance.

Saturday 5:30. TALK: Documenting Sex; Barbara Hammer, "Pioneering Lesbian Sexuality"

Barbara Hammer (born 1939) is a central figure in experimental and queer film. Her prolific body of work represents a whole spectrum of fearless experimentation from the radical depictions of lesbian sexuality and feminism to the innovative experimentation with film as a material of representation. Documenting Sex is a series of talks and panel discussions conceived by artist, Richard John Jones, that accompany the program of the first edition of the NYC Porn Film Festival 2015.

All attendees must be over the age of 21 and bring a valid ID. All screenings & events (unless stated) will be held at Secret Project Robot 389 Melrose Street Brooklyn NYC 11237
