The Bourbon & Belonging Festival brought together the LGBTQ+ community for a dazzling evening of drag, music, and camaraderie in Louisville.

On October 4th, 2024, Number 15 bar in downtown Louisville transformed into a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ pride and Kentucky's rich bourbon culture during the Out on Whiskey Row event. This spectacular evening was part of the inaugural Bourbon & Belonging, an annual celebration hosted by Queer Kentucky, that took place from October 2-6, 2024. With over 200 attendees, the event showcased a true outpouring of community spirit, creating an atmosphere that was described as fun, lighthearted, and celebratory.

A Night to Remember

As guests arrived dressed to impress, they were greeted by a stunning Step & Repeat, offering the perfect backdrop for memorable photos. The excitement in the air was palpable as attendees mingled, sipping delicious bourbon cocktails and sharing laughter. Conversations flowed effortlessly, with many attendees praising Out Magazine for its ongoing support of the LGBTQ+ community. DJ Joey with the Mustache kept the vibe lively, spinning upbeat and interesting tracks that ensured the dance floor stayed full throughout the evening.

Drag Performances to Dazzle

The entertainment lineup was nothing short of spectacular. Sasha Grant kicked off the performances with her high-energy “Black Texas Hold'em Mix,” captivating the crowd with her dynamic presence. Partygoers lined up to tip her as she brought incredible energy to the room. Shannel followed with an unforgettable rendition of “Mamma-Big Spender-Big Time,” leaving the crowd in awe of her stage presence and skill.

As the night continued, Sasha returned with her “Mary J Edit,” amping up the excitement for Shannel’s final performance of “Gay Pimp.” This number was a true showstopper, featuring Shannel juggling mid-performance, adding a unique and unexpected twist that had the audience cheering with excitement.

Following the performances, attendees had the chance to participate in a meet-and-greet with Shannel, connecting with the iconic queen and creating lasting memories of the night.
