According to a new study, gay men from California know how to fly better than most people. To paraphrase Katy Perry's hit song: "California gays, they're international!"

New data from YouGov shows that gay men are more likely to fly first class while traveling than any other demographic. Specifically, the study shows that, in the last twelve months, eight percent of gay men have booked a first-class flight — compared to four percent of all heterosexuals, three percent of all bisexuals, and just two percent of all lesbians.
Moreover, flying first class usually has a higher percentage of gay men in it than in the rest of the plane. The study compares how three percent of fliers in non-first-class bookings are gay men, while they make up five percent of first-class bookings.
Demographics show that first-class fliers are also more likely to be married (55 percent vs. 50 percent) and more likely to have a child under 18 (38 percent vs. 27 percent) than non-first-class fliers.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the study also shows that the number one destination for first-class fliers is California, with 11 percent of first-class fliers visiting the state, compared to eight percent of non-first-class fliers.
Italy and the United Kingdom are tied as the number one international destinations for first-class travelers: seven percent each.
Whether it's hosting or traveling, it's clear that the gays have it on lock.
