Out associate editor Julien Sauvalle gets suited up with the designer's new Tailoring platform
For the first time, rockstar designer John Varvatos is expanding its suiting offering with the launch of a new e-retail platform, Tailored Clothing. Customers can now choose online between two suit silhouettes: The Austin, a slim-fit, contemporary look, and The Hampton, a more classic, executive cut.
We asked Out associate editor Julien Sauvalle to pick a suit, and put John Varvatos's in-house tailoring services to the test. Check out the full story, below.
At the store, Julien goes for a peak lapel tuxedo to wear at the Out100 gala, but it still needs some work. Next step: John Varvatos' resident tailor steps in to take Julien's measurements and make the suit fit perfectly.
The pant leg is adjusted to be more narrow (nobody likes a baggy bottom) and the jacket is made more snug, giving the tux a leaner, more modern feel. A range of neck ties, bow ties, and dress scarves is also available to make your outfit truly pop.
Complementing the new web platform, the brand's made-to-measure service, available at select John Varvatos stores, also innovates by allowing customers to create their own suit from start to finish. Choosing from an array of luxury made-in-Italy fabrications, you can customize everything from the jacket lining to the buttoning.
After your measurements are taken, allow two to three weeks to receive your tailored suit -- which should look as perfect as you'd expect.
Order your suit online at JohnVarvatos.com/Tailored-Clothing, and get the full custom tailoring experience at John Varvatos stores.
