Are you that guy that thinks dress pants are only for work? Well if you are, let's change your mind. These days I've been finding myself wearing trousers about as often as I wear jeans. And no, I'm not running around in slacks with a shirt and tie all the time, but you will see me pairing dress pants more casually with sneakers and a tee.
Take an outfit you'd normally wear with jeans, and sub in a pair of tailored trousers to upgrade your look. You'll see right away that it adds a certain level of sophistication. Black trousers are probably the easiest to work into your outfits. Since they basically look the same as black jeans, you can swap them out super easily. If you're still not sold, consider trying something like a drawstring dress pant or dressy joggers as a transitional piece to get you out of your denim comfort zone. The sportier feel of these pants will probably remind you more of sweats than slacks.
For this outfit, I kept a gray scale color palette and paired the classic pinstripe pants with a bomber and a patterned tee. Finishing touches like my new felt fedora and some black zip-up boots create a vibe that proves dress pants can be more "cool" than corporate.
