The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) will honor fierce designer and LGBT rights supporter Betsey Johnson. A four-time CFDA Fashion Award winner, Johnson will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award on June 1st, celebrating her career in the fashion industry.
In the other categories, it's a bunch of familiar names. In menswear, Tom Ford and Thom Browne are both vying for the big prize, but newcomers Tim Coppens and Public School (last year's winner) could also win the trophee.
In womenswear, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler will compete against the likes of Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, and Joseph Altuzarra. The Olsen twins are also nominated for their label The Row.
The Media Award, honoring those who revolutionize fashion reporting, will be given to Instagram. The creative directors of the Italian brand Valentino, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli, will receive the International Award.
