Penguin at 60…
In 1955, the underwear and military-supply company Munsingwear introduced the Original Penguin golf shirt to America. Six decades later, the brand has become a menswear favorite known for its humorous, detailed designs, and this fall it will pay tribute to its roots with a new "time capsule" collection. "It's a privilege to work on a brand with 60 years of incredible heritage, and to continue the story hopefully another 60," says Adam Weir, vice president of design at Original Penguin. The anniversary line has a worn-in, vintage vibe -- its polos, T-shirts, chinos, and zip-up jackets look like they've been passed down through generations. Meanwhile, Pete the Penguin, the label's logo, has received a makeover: Presented in celebratory gold thread against the collection's deep hues of plum and midnight blue, he shines brighter than ever.
