Tampa Baes has its first lesbian proposal.
According to a People exclusive, Marissa Gialousis and Summer Mitchell, two of the stars of the new lesbian reality show Tampa Baes are officialy engaged!
The couple has been together for over three years now, and are overjoyed to share the news. "It's a feeling I think we've both struggled to put into words," Gialousis told People. "It's so surreal and we're overwhelmed with the amount of support and congratulations we've received."
The couple actually got engaged about five months ago, when the first season of Tampa Baes finished filming. They've been keeping it a secret on social media since then.

"In having to keep this announcement off social media for the last five months, we found so much joy in seeing our friends and families' reactions in person," Mitchell said on Instagram. "It's been a constant reminder of what truly matters in life. I could write a novel about my love for this woman but I'd never be able to truly put into words the way she makes me feel. Marissa, you're my home, my place of peace, my soulmate. I can't wait to call you my wife. It's me & you, bub. I love you so much."
Not only were the other cast members of Tampa Baes present for the proposal, but so was Mitchell's family and best friend, something Gialousis arranged with help from the rest of the crew.
"That meant the absolute world to me," Mitchell said. "Now I've gone from the girl who thought I'd never be able to call someone my wife with my family's full support, to being over-the-moon in love with where I am in life."
Gialousis said that proposing in front of the cameras made her nervous, but was definitely worth it.
"I was very aware of the film crew as we were walking up to the picnic and that was probably the most nervous I've ever felt in my life," she told People. "My heart was pounding so hard that I remember thinking, 'I wonder if Erin [the producer] can hear my impending heart attack on the mic.' After getting the ring out and seeing Summer's reaction though, it put me at ease and I could forget about everything else."
Mitchell also said that knowing the proposal was going to be on TV was nerve-wracking. "I was nervous to watch such an intimate moment back on TV since I am typically a very private person," she said. "Once I realized a proposal was definitely happening and I saw Marissa getting choked up, I was so in the moment with her that I forgot the cameras were even there."
On her own Instagram, Gialousis wrote that keeping the engagement a secret was "the WORST," but added a message for Mitchell, saying "life has been a dream come true with you since our first date. You're my ride or die and I know what we have is so rare in this world. I feel incredibly lucky to have not only found you, but to have had built such a happy life with you as well. I can't wait to see what comes next for us, bub."
Tampa Baes, which follows a group of queer women in Tampa Bay, Florida's LGBTQ+ capital, is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
