Jamie Lee Curtis Thinks We Should Out Closeted Politicians

The ones who legislate against queer people, at least.

Jamie Lee Curtis has no tears left to cry for hypocritical, closeted politicians. In fact, she thinks they should be outed.

While speaking to the LGBTQ+ website Pride Source about which of her own characters she thinks are queer -- she says she's never considered if Halloween legend Laurie Strode was a lesbian, which seems like a big blind spot considering Strode's Big Dyke Energy -- she steered the conversation towards speculating about the sexuality of public figures.

The Activia spokeswoman has been rumored to be queer but clarified that she's not, apparently to her detriment. "I did not know any gay kids growing up, but I was propositioned in school once by a girl," she recalled. "I was at boarding school and I remember I rejected her advance and, you know, that didn't go well. She made a point of making that an issue for me at school a little bit."

Curtis insisted that it's not "anybody's business what people's sexuality is, to be perfectly honest." She said, "I find it like a reverse discrimination." That's... not really a thing, but we'll let that one slide.

Curtis believes "people's private lives are their private lives and whether I've ever kissed a girl -- have not -- is irrelevant to whatever advocacy I participate in." The actress, who appears in the Thanksgiving whodunit Knives Out, said that chatter about other people's sexuality is "sort of destructive cocktail party fodder" and, at the end of the day, it's "nobody's business, it doesn't matter.

But there was one big caveat: exposing someone's sexuality doesn't matter unless they "legislate anti-gay legislation but are gay." Curtis said, "I fully accept outing those people for the hypocrisy."

This is a divisive topic within the LGBTQ+ community -- just look at the way various queer publications have handled a certain former congressman who keeps showing up at circuit parties. Hypocrisy is hard to stomach, especially when it comes from someone actively trying to take your rights away. Is Curtis right? As a heterosexual person, is this even her issue to decide?

At least one thing is clear: Laurie Strode is a whole ass lesbian. Don't @ me.
