Celine Dion Thought the Met Gala Theme Was About Camping

Celine Dion Thought the Met Gala Theme Was About Camping

Celine Dion Thought the Met Gala Was About Camping

Well, she’s not wrong.

Celine Dion didn't have to work very hard to serve camp at the 2019 Met Gala -- Celine Dion is camp. Nonetheless, the legendary Canadian pop icon showed up looking like she'd just left her Vegas residency in glittering champagne fringe and a headpiece that gave us some serious Thor: Ragnarok vibes.

But while Dion nailed the theme, she revealed during an interview she didn't exactly know what to wear. "My look tonight is Oscar de la Renta," she told E! "I was ready to camp and sleep all night. They said, 'Girl, you don't know what camp is. Oscar de la Renta's going to show you.'"

"Everybody who was part of it put their hearts into it," she told Vogue of her look. "It was to make it something magical. I don't want to take it off! I want to go to bed in it tonight."

Dion has always served on the Met Gala red carpet -- well, every red carpet -- but this year's theme let her shine, literally.

Dion wasn't the only pop star serving camp on the red carpet: Lady Gaga arrived early as part of her hosting duties in a fuschia Brandon Maxwell gown only to stage three reveals, ending up in a bra, panties, fishnets, and Pleaser boots. With a theme like "Camp: Notes on Fashion," we been knew that the pop stars were the ones who were going to bring it.
