Troye Sivan Calls Reporter’s Bottoming Questions ‘Invasive’
“Next time I’ll just do a Twitter q&a.”

Troye Sivan is putting a queer journalist on blast for daring to ask him wheher he's a top or a bottom -- even though he once said his album Bloom was full of "#bopsaboutbottoming."
Sivan was promoting a string of tour dates in an interview with New Zealand LGBTQ+ magazine Express, which reporter Matt Fistonich ended with a series of "quickfire questions." He asked the singer if he supported Trump ("Absolutely not"), if he thought Justin Bieber was hot ("Hot for sure"), and whether he stans Ariana Grande over Taylor Swift ("That I can't answer. I'll have to pass. It's the impossible question!").
Fistonich concluded the interview with a salacious parting shot: "Top or bottom?"
"Oo...definitely passing," Sivan answered.
On Wednesday, Sivan retweeted a screenshot of the interview, making clear that while he may have laughed it off at the time, he found the question unacceptable. "I thought about asking the interviewer about his absolute fave sex position after that last question, but then i remembered how wildly invasive, strange and innapropriate [sic] that would be. Didn't stop him though!" He later followed up by saying, "Next time I'll just do a Twitter q&a."
According to BuzzFeed, Fistonich and the magazine have not responded to requests for comment.
