Is RuPaul Doing a 'Star Wars' Cameo Soon?

RuPaul and J. J. Abrams

A comment on a recent episode of Untucked has fans wondering

A lot happened in RuPaul's Drag Universe on Friday night -- and with three and a half hours straight of it, that's a good thing. First, we saw some really amazing makeovers as the remaining queens turned RuPaul's Drag Race superfans into their siblings, then we were treated to a pretty amazing lip sync performance worthy of recognition, RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race turned out a trio of stars worthy of its title, and we got more than a bit of eye candy by way of Rusical backup dancers. Yeah, a packed night. So it's understandable that something might fall through the cracks.

At the end of our now weekly nights of assumed fracker-in-chief RuPaul, we get the 30-minute Untucked! aftershow. While it's typically known for its drama and messiness -- if you're not watching Untucked ... you know the rest -- the aftershow is also the place where we get to watch the queens get up close and personal with the guest judges. This week it was Star Wars star Daisy Ridley who seemed to drop a little exclusive info during the episode.

"While we have Daisy let's get the real tea," Jackie Cox said in the episode. "When are drag queens coming to a galaxy far, far away? Who do I gotta talk to?" Ridley notably played Rey, the first female Jedi.

"Ru is working with [J.J. Abrams,]" Ridley replied. "So you know, galaxies are intermingling." Cox, who is clearly a Star Wars fan, widened her eyes in excitement. Could this mean Ru has an upcoming cameo in the series? Maybe, but probably not.

J.J. Abrams, the producer behind the recent Star Wars films, is indeed working with RuPaul. In 2017, the two announced that they were developing a dramatic comedy called Queen for Hulu. While we haven't heard much about it recently, the show was set to dramatize Ru's own rise to fame. Set in the 1980s, the project was set to include Ru's time as a club kid and likely show his breakout moment with the Supermodel of the World album.

Tthere has been no real news since the initial announcement. It's likely that Ridley was referring to this project.
