RuPaul's Celebrity Drag Race: Everything You Need to Know

Trip from Celebrity Drag Race

When, where, and who is involved.

*Update: We have been covering Celebrity Drag Race's episodes week by week including the debut of the first episode's celebrities as well as the second. We also revealed the three queens who were signed as creative consultants on the series, doing some of the makeup behind the scenes. One of those artists got her own special bonus clip online. Oh, and if you need a little eyecandy, we found the sexy dancers from the Rusical.
Well ladies, it's here. After being announced late last year, RuPaul's newest iteration of Drag Race is ready to launch, and now with a slightly updated name: Welcome to RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race.
What is it?
The concept is not that hard to understand: take some Drag Race's favorite alum, and pair them up with celebrities to put them in drag. "It's a very British thing to do, to have celebrities participate," Michelle Visage told Entertainment Weekly of the series. "This felt like it was right because this is the type of thing that celebrities want to do and it's amazing." Think of this as a glitzier version of Drag U and Ru's version of HBO's new series We're Here, but with America's Next Celebrity Drag Superstar being crowned at the end of every episode.
Who is involved?
Well it's a secret didn't you hear! The new trailer for the series does not reveal who the celebrities are, though it does show at least one seems to be a guy -- although that could be a woman dressed up as a drag king. A release only says there will be three celebrities from "film, music, television, and comedy" featured in each episode.
That said, they have revealed the drag talent that has been brought on board: Alyssa Edwards, Asia O'Hara, Bob the Drag Queen, Kim Chi, Monet X Change, Monique Heart, Nina West, Trinity the Tuck, Trixie Mattel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo. Yeah, the favorites!
What are the challenges?
The challenges haven't been revealed yet -- purposefully that is. In a promotional video for the series with Bob the Drag Queen and Nina West, Kim Chi let it slip that they had had filmed a roast. Well, there's that to look forward to at least!
When and how can I watch it?
The new show is a four-week competition that will air during the current season of Drag Race. Kicking off April 24, it will start "after Drag Race followed by Untucked!" Untucked will move to 11:00 p.m. to give space for this hour and a half show.
If you're in the U.K., the show began streaming on Netflix after the second episode.
What do they win?
We haven't seen any confirmations about this yet but we would think/hope this is one o those competitions where the celebrities are competing for the benefit of charities. We'll have to wait and see.
