McDonald’s presents the Out100 Special, honoring groundbreaking leaders shaping LGBTQ+ culture.
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Out100 Special, presented by McDonald’s, recognizes the bold visionaries redefining LGBTQ+ culture in 2024. This year’s honorees represent a wide spectrum of industries, from entertainment to activism, highlighting the diverse ways LGBTQ+ individuals are shaping society.
“Our Out100 TV Special builds upon the rich 30-year legacy of the Out100 and is a testament to the power, resilience, and influence of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Mark Berryhill, CEO of equalpride. “This year’s honorees represent an expansive array of voices across industries, and we’re thrilled to bring their stories to life in this inspiring program. The celebration’s honorees include music icons Adam Lambert and Reneé Rapp, who have captivated audiences worldwide with their artistry and unapologetic authenticity. Comedians Margaret Cho and Harper Steele, both fearless in their humor, continue to challenge stereotypes and foster inclusivity.

Drag stars Trixie Mattel and Pattie Gonia bring creativity and advocacy to new heights, using their platforms to amplify queer narratives and inspire change. Gonia slayed a lip-sync performance of Cynthia Erivo’s “Defying Gravity” in front of the icon herself and Out’s own Queen of Queer Media, Tracy E. Gilchrist.

“It has been a wild few weeks since that moment with the incredible Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande went viral,” said Gilchrist. “I never imagined myself becoming a meme and I’m thrilled that it has brought people joy and laughter.”
Meanwhile, fashion disruptor Law Roach has transformed the global style landscape, emphasizing individuality and representation.
The program also celebrated LGBTQ+ Olympian Tom Daley, whose advocacy for inclusion in sports sets an example for athletes worldwide. Hollywood stars like Gabrielle Union, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Dustin Lance Black, Lena Waithe, and Orville Peck added star power, each showcasing how visibility and authenticity can change the cultural landscape.

Sheryl Lee Ralph, named Advocate of the Year, delivered an unforgettable speech about the collective power of advocacy. Erivo, named Icon of the Year, reflected on her journey and the icons who inspired her. “Icons create space for others to dream and thrive,” Erivo shared.
