Though many of us would rather forget the year that was 2020, Jonathan Van Ness certainly has some fond memories of it. The Queer Eye star, comedian, and hairstylist shocked the world (well, not the entire world as their friends knew already) with the news that he was married. According to a series of posts on social media, Van Ness and Mark Peacock pulled off a backyard wedding over the summer.

"I got married to my best friend [and] have a loving partner to continue building my life with," she wrote to Instagram in a carousel post that was a bit of a round-up of the year -- JVN uses she/he/they pronouns. In the post, they included a photo from the wedding ceremony itself. Peacock posted his own post, adding more photos to the fray and Van Ness cleared up the details on Twitter: the pair married in the backyard of a rented summer home with a judge and a photographer. Their parents watched on FaceTime. Now, Van Ness is back with more details about the relationship.

"We went on a date in London, which turned into more dates whilst I was on comedy tour," the nonbinary star wrote in a new caption. This was likely Van Ness's Road to Beijing tour which touched down in London in October 2019. Around then, fans noticed the pair began commenting and liking each other's Instagram posts. One eagle-eyed fan even saw the pair together at Tina: The Tina Turner Musical in New York in late 2019.

"At the end of that time I was taking my mom, aunt [and] friends on a mini-break to Amsterdam," they continued. 'I wanted [Mark] to come with but, was it a bit intense to ask Mark to come after a couple [weeks' worth] of dates to come meet my mom [and] friends on a mini break? Maybe so, but something about Mark felt different and I'm quite sure he felt the same." Clearly!

The two apparently attended Oscars events together in February 2020 and have been spending time together since, before getting married over the summer. Peacock is a fitness expert, having contributed to Men's Health U.K. for some time -- he even appeared on the cover once.

"Thanks so much for your support and love for us!!" Van Ness wrote. "Love y'all!!"
