Mj Rodriguez Just Booked Her Next Big Project

MJ Rodriguez

The Pose star will be working with Maya Rudolph!

Mj Rodriguez isn't stopping just because Pose is coming to an end.

The actress, who stars as Blanca Evangelista in the hit FX series Pose, has found her next starring project in Maya Rudolph's upcoming untitled Apple comedy series.

The series follows Molly (Rudolph), "a woman whose seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but 87 billion dollars." Rodriguez will play Sofia, the hard-working executive director of a non-profit funded by her "absentee billionaire boss, Molly."

Rudolph is also executive producing the show, alongside Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens of Animal Pictures. The series, which has the working title Loot, was created by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard. Yang is one of the creators of Master of None, alongside Aziz Ansari. The upcoming third season of that show will switch focus from Ansari's character to the one played by Lena Waithe.

Rodriguez is currently starring in the third, and final, season of Pose, the critically-acclaimed drama from Steven Canals about New York's ballroom scene in the 80's and 90's. In the latest season, Blanca is trying to balance her personal life with being a partner to her new beau, played by Jeremy Pope, and is working as a nurse's aid.

In her recent EW cover story, Rodriguez said she was mulling over two different "amazing, big productions." At the time she said film and music wre her main focuses for the near future.

"I want to definitely venture into some very dramatic, dark elements of a character," she said. "Blanca was dramatic but she was still light. She was love, hope, and joy. But now I think it's time to do something that is completely the opposite, so others can really see the dynamic that Michaela has."

"There's so much in these pans, they're just boiling, which is gagging me."
