Chrishell Stause is teaching a valuable lesson about gender identity and clearing things up when it comes to her current relationship.
During the season five reunion special of Netflix's popular reality series Selling Sunset, Stause opened up about dating nonbinary Australian singer G Flip. Though a lot of Stause and Flip's fans welcomed the news with open arms and the two were met with a ton of support, it seems that the musician's gender identity appears to have also caused some confusion among a few of Stause's followers.
This prompted the Selling Sunset star to take to Instagram to dish out an important lesson.
"For those that are open to learning (you're awesome) sex is anatomical and gender is how someone identifies," Stause wrote in the caption of her post. "These two things are often confused. There are many more qualified people to speak on this but maybe I can be the bridge to those of you open to understanding. Feel free to tag helpful accounts and I will pin however many it lets me. Thanks for listening."
In her five-minute Instagram video, Stause noted that she didn't provide as much context during the season five reunion of Selling Sunset as she probably should have. Thus, certain viewers seem to have a few questions regarding her new relationship with G Flip.
Stause clarified once again that she and her ex-boyfriend Jason Oppenheim simply weren't in the same place when it came to what they expected out of a relationship right now. In turn, she and G Flip appear to be way more aligned when it comes to starting a family, even if they have to explore different options as a couple. Overall, Stause mentioned that G Flip has opened her eyes to several other possibilities - which she is very excited about.
"To me, it is about the person, it is about the heart," Stause explained. "I am attracted to masculine energy, and I don't really care what the physical form is. With G, they identify as nonbinary, so their pronouns are they/them. Everyone is different, but for [G Flip], they feel like they're a mix. They identify on both sides of male and female."
Toward the end of the video, Stause revealed that Oppenheim is also living his best life even if he didn't have a new relationship to talk about during the Selling Sunset reunion. She reiterated that they have nothing but respect for each other regardless of their breakup.
Selling Sunset season five is now streaming on Netflix.
