Cam and Mitchell's reunion has been written.
Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has revealed even more information about the potential Cam and Mitchell spinoff he keeps teasing us about. After winning his first Tony Award on Sunday for starring in the Broadway revival of Take Me Out, he talked to Entertainment Tonight about the potential spinoff, and where it sits right now.
"The script's out there, and it's very good," he told ET. "So, you know, who knows? If someone wants to produce it, maybe."
While it's not much, we now know that there's a script out there, and hopefully, someone will bite soon. It's only been two years since the show ended, but audiences really miss the beloved gay couple and their family.
Ferguson has been talking recently about the spinoff to several people. On Watch What Happens Live, he told host Andy Cohen that "there were discussions" for a Cam and Mitch spinoff, but "the network decided against it."
"Yeah, I think they were just wondering if this was the right family to still tell that story," he said. "I think that we'd been on for eleven years. I think they were ready to move in a different direction."
The two actors reunited for the first time in years recently, meeting up at Random Access in NYC. The two shared a video where they said they missed each other a lot and called it "a meet-cute two years in the making."
If the script gets picked up by a network or streamer, we could be seeing a lot more of the two of them together again soon.
