The 'Élite' star is now also writing and directing.
From the very first season of Netflix's Elite, Omar Ayuso emerged as a standout star for his portrayal of the complicated but absolutely lovable Omar Shanaa.
Initially, the character of Omar was introduced as a drug dealer and his stories were mostly centered around being an older, protective brother to Nadia (played by Mina El Hammani). However, things eventually evolved as Omar and Ander (played by Aron Piper) developed feelings for each other and started dating.
Over the course of the series, Omar only grew as a character and ended up becoming one of the main cast members on Elite. Alas, after both El Hammani and Piper left the show to pursue other projects, Ayuso chose to follow suit the following year - officially bowing out in season five.
Viewers had to say goodbye to their fan-favorite gay character on Elite, but it's also been exciting to follow Ayuso's career since leaving the hit Netflix series. Besides being an excellent actor, he is now also focusing his energy on directing and writing his own projects. In 2022, Ayuso released his first-ever short film, Matar a la madre, which he directed and wrote. He is also attached to two upcoming projects as an actor: On the Go and Les Paradis de Diane.
