Lies, deceit, and camp? It's the perfect recipe for a reality TV show!
Luckily, fans get to see Alan Cumming bring all of the chaos together by hosting the US version of The Traitors.
The popular Dutch show has made its way over to America and some of the most well-known reality show personalities are stirring up the drama in an effort to win a $250,000 cash prize.
"I'm drawn to odd things. It was mostly the idea that I was doing something that I had never done before. It was so fun and so ridiculous," Cumming tells Out.
As the title of the show implies, everyone in the castle is tasked to backstab, connive, and manipulate each other to weed out the "Traitors" from the "Faithfuls."
"That was hilarious to me. When people say things like, 'I can't believe you lied to me,' I'm like... hello? It's called The Traitors. Lying is pretty important," Cumming says.
With so much mystery and sneaky activity going on, it was only fitting that some of the best reality TV veterans would be cast on this show.
Many fan-favorite Bravolebrities joined the cast for the first season, including Below Deck's Kate Chastain, Shahs of Sunset's Reza Farahan, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Brandi Glanville, and Summer House's Kyle Cooke.
"Bravo is a family. It was inevitable. We've gone through such a similar experience even though our shows are wildly different from one another," Cooke says.
"I'm trying to live my life and not fight with these ladies," Glanville adds. "[The Traitors] is a game and it's different. No matter what and how dark it gets, they're here to win that money."
"I've never done a competition show, but I felt like if I were to, this was the one for me," Chastain says.
"Honestly, I was coming off the Shahs cancellation. The only strategy I had was going in and getting my mind off of that. The antics in the castle was exactly what I needed," Farahan concludes.
However, Bravolebrities weren't the only reality TV personalities invading the castle. The cast also includes alumni from Survivor, along with Big Brother's Rachel Reilly and The Bachelor's Arie Luyendyk Jr.
"Coming from The Bachelor, it's so personal. Now doing this, it's really cool to play a game and to know at the end of the day when you go to sleep, it's just a game," Luyendyk says.
"There is just as many epic television moments and the audience should totally expect amazing Rachel moments, but because we have such an epic cast, I feel like you're going to laugh, you'll cry, you'll be shocked. It's going to be amazing," Reilly adds.
The Traitors is streaming now on Peacock. To see the full interview with Alan Cumming and the cast, check out the video below.
