YouTuber Shane Dawson has gotten married to his longtime boyfriend Ryland Adams.
Dawson and Adams dated for three years before finally getting engaged in 2019. Four years later, the couple has now officially tied the knot as of 2023.
The couple shared a joint announcement on Instagram that read:
"We're married!! [heart emoji] The best day of my life. Our very unique wedding video is up now [champagne glasses emoji]."
The video referenced in their Instagram post details the couple's full marriage experience in Colorado. Dawson explained in the video:
"I thought it was like, you know, we just go to the courthouse, do the paperwork, not really tell anybody and then have the wedding in a month or two in L.A. And then I found out... no, it's a real wedding. We have to do vows."
The new video -- titled "We're Married!!!!" -- was shared on Adams' YouTube channel and you can watch it below.
Dawson and Adams planned on not getting each other wedding bands. Instead, they meant to get finger tattoos to symbolize the wedding rings. However, they ultimately decided against it after a tattoo artist told them that these kinds of tattoos would eventually rub off from their skin.
It should be noted that Dawson has been the subject of a myriad of controversies in recent years that include using blackface, saying the n-word on several occasions, and making problematic comments regarding pedophilia. He has also been accused of engaging in bestiality and has gotten himself into fights with other content creators for numerous reasons.
Nonetheless, these two social media stars are now married, ushering in all of the weddings we're bound to see within the LGBTQ+ community in 2023.
