Shangela is a PERFORMER. A professional performer ladies, and gentlemen.
During Hollywood's awards season she turned out a stunning number at the 2019 Independent Spirit awards. And now, she's back, performing at the GLAAD Media Awards.
For this latest performance, our Shangie had her work cut out for her. In an effort to honor the recipient of the year's Vanguard Award, Beyonce -- ok, fine, her husband also received the award alongside her, but I said what I said -- our first drag queen to go to the Oscars, turned out a medley of Bey's greatest hits. And boy did it pay off.
“YALL! @itsSHANGELA just killed it, lip syncing to Beyoncé IN FRONT OF Beyoncé!!! #GLAADawards @glaad”— Tre'vell Anderson (@Tre'vell Anderson) 1553835776
Including hits like "Baby Boy," "Single Ladies," and Destiny's Child's tracks "Bootylicious," "Independent Women" the RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 4 People's Choice got the energy going! Incorporating quite a bit of Bey's own choreography, and the performance was high energy, and basically gave a mini-version of one of Queen Bey's tour performances. And obviously she added a few other moves -- love Beyonce, but we've never seen her do a dip.
Shangela pulled off such an on-point performance, that she brought the crowd to its feet. And it wasn't just the crowd. She brought Beyonce, the performer of performers, to her feet in a standing ovation. Well ... if you ever wondered who the Beyonce of drag was, now you know.
