UPDATE: Looks like Alexis Mateo wasn't the first one to spill some tea on RuPaul Drag Race's most iconic fight. Back in February, the Queen of Henny, Stacy Layne Matthews, made an appearance on the podcast Feast of Fun, which was recently resurfaced on Reddit. And though it may not have gotten much traction, she went much more into detail than her season three sister Alexis Mateo did.
According to Matthews, when production was halted for three weeks, they were all sent home, and in the interim, the show got switched around. And as for why? It wasn't because RuPaul needed a break, as Mimi Imfurst had told the hosts.
"Mimi and Shangela got in a fight and you could see it on Untucked but they didn't air the actual fist fight," Matthews said. "They were like well, we need to figure out what we're going to do about this situation, if we're going to kick you off or whatever."
"Who threw the first punch?" a host asked.
"I don't know, it happened so quick," Matthews replied. "I was like what the hell was going on?"
"When they cut back to the mainstage, look at Mimi's hair she's wearing," she continued. "She's covering up her forehead because she has a big hole where she was bleeding where Shangela scratched her in the forehead. If I remember correctly, I had blood on my arm." The queen, who made cameos in All Stars 4, clarified that she was not involved in the fight but the blood, which she says was from Imfurst's head, came from being in the vicinity and trying to keep the altercation from happening.
"It was so dramatic," she said. "They should have aired it because that was some good television henny." Wow, when the girls said they were willing to fight to stay in the competition, we didn't know this is what they meant.
ORIGINAL: We have been quoting Shangela's iconic sugar daddy speech since it first aired on the RuPaul's Drag Race spin-off show Untucked during season 3 of the show. In 2017 it had racked up over one million views and has spun off countless memes as people adapt it for their own respective situations. And it included a drink toss! But baby ... apparently we didn't see all of it.
"Let me see how I'm going to put this without compromising my life," Drag Race season 3 contestant Alexis Mateo said on a recent episode of the web series Hey Qween!. "Ok so the Shangela and Mimi incident was worse than what you guys got to see. It is what the fuck it is. I'm not going to say anything longer, but to this day World of Wonder have never had another incident like that one. My sisters from season 3 know exactly what I'm talking about, baby."
Girl, excuse me what? Our reigning Miss "First Drag Queen to go to the Oscars" Professional got it hot in the World of Wonder studios?
"There was a reason we got a break of three weeks after that episode," Mateo continued. "It was very pageant, it was crazy it was out of control. It was real."
While Mateo, personally felt they should have shown everything, she said that contracts kept production from doing so -- and likely, we would assume, also has kept the lid on exactly what happened. But she did say that even the World of Wonder team is still talking about what went down.
"I got the privilege to be in World of Wonder's offices the other day and talk to everybody and I was like 'which one has been the worst moment for you guys,'" Mateo said. "They were like Shangela and Mimi hands down. [There's been] nothing like that." Ok, but I would like to see it!
"I'm only going to say one thing: Baby, Shangela, I don't fuck with her," Mateo continued. "She got power baby. That's all I gotta say baby. Hallelloo girl."
